'95年1stアルバム『In A Time Of Blood And Fire』でデビューを飾る。
スウェーデン出身のメロディック・パワー・メタル・バンドとしてへヴィ･メタル・ファンからは既に注目を集めていたが、
'97年発表の2 nd『Tales Ｏｆ Mystery And Imagination』リリース前にギタリストが脱退。
'99年発表の3 rdアルバム『The Sacred Talisman』リリース前にもメンバー・チェンジがあり、
アルバムごとにメンバーが交代するという状況が続きなかなかバンド活動が安定できなかった。
しかし'00年に発表した4thアルバム『Afterlife』でジョニー・リンドクヴィストという
強力なヴォーカリストを得たバンドは、それまで以上にメロディアスでパワフルな楽曲を作るという方向に進化、
'02年に発表した5thアルバム『Shadowland』で一気に開花するのである。
その後2003年3月初めて実現した、HAMMERFALLの前座としての来日公演では、タイトなリズム・セクション、
7弦ギターを自在に操るニルス・ノーベリのメロディアスなフレーズに
ジョニーのパワフルでレンジの広いヴォーカルとまさにメロディック・へヴィ・メタルの王道を突き進む作風は
最新作『Grand Illusion』にも活かされており、今後最も期待されるバンドの一つである。
